Grant E. Mitsch Novelty Daffodils, Oregon, USA, 1971 – 1995

Mr. Mitsch was the premier American hybridizer for over 50 years.¬† He also grew gladiolus and iris before concentrating exclusively on daffodils in 1941.¬† He grew many fine flowers in all divisions and expanded considerably the flowers available in Divisions 5 – 7 which were then often referred to as the “minor divisions,” and which were largely neglected at the time.¬† In 1978, his daughter Elise and her husband Richard Havens began issuing catalogs in their name.¬† They continued the legacy of¬†breeding fine flowers in all divisions.
